# Why Cardano?

## First, we need to ask ourselves “Why Blockchain?”

Blockchain technology was created to solve a fundamental challenge known as the **blockchain trilemma**. This trilemma refers to the difficulty of achieving **security**, **decentralization**, and **scalability** simultaneously within a blockchain network.

Traditional systems often compromise on one or more of these elements:

* **Security:** Ensures the network is resilient against attacks and fraud.
* **Decentralization:** Empowers a trustless system without reliance on central authorities.
* **Scalability:** Allows the network to handle a growing number of transactions efficiently.

Blockchain emerged as a groundbreaking solution that balances these priorities, ensuring a secure, decentralized system while striving for scalability.

## Why Cardano?

Cardano stands out among blockchain protocols because it was designed with a **research-first approach** to address the trilemma effectively. Here’s why we chose Cardano for minting our NFTs:

1. **Security:**
   Built on peer-reviewed academic research, Cardano incorporates cutting-edge cryptographic techniques to ensure the highest levels of security for our NFTs and their holders.

2. **Scalability:**
   Cardano’s scalability is powered by its innovative **eUTxO (Extended Unspent Transaction Output)** model, which enhances transaction processing efficiency and predictability.

Unlike the account-based models used by many other blockchains (e.g., Ethereum), eUTxO works by ensuring that every transaction references specific outputs from previous transactions. This has several key advantages:

* **Parallel Processing:** The eUTxO model allows transactions to be processed in parallel, reducing bottlenecks and improving throughput. This is particularly beneficial for applications like NFT minting, where multiple simultaneous transactions are common.
* **Deterministic Fees:** With eUTxO, transaction outcomes and associated fees are predictable before execution, eliminating surprises and making cost management straightforward.
* **Scalability by Design:** Since each transaction is self-contained, it minimizes the need for global state updates, allowing the network to scale more effectively as activity grows.

By leveraging eUTxO, Cardano ensures that our NFTs are minted and managed on a blockchain that remains efficient and scalable, even as user demand increases.

   Cardano is designed to seamlessly integrate with other systems and networks, ensuring our NFTs can adapt to the evolving blockchain landscape.
